I really appreciate the thought that you put into this. Healthy eating requires a lot of agency and is a major part of staying healthy throughout this life. I would have loved to know a little more about how these specific foods are things that you choose to choose. Hopefully that makes sense! This picture really resonated with me after hearing your story last class about why this is important to you. I loved that you included that into this assignment.
Becca, I really like the simple representation and description of your thoughts about agency. This is something I've been thinking about a lot at the start of the new year as well. It can be really easy to feel like we don't have a choice when it comes to our bodies and what we eat (at least I feel this way a lot of the time!). The idea that we have a plethora of good options and we have to be discerning about which one is best is really insightful and so true. One thing I've been trying to think about in regards to the way I talk about food, is that there's no such thing as "bad" food, but rather there are other foods that are more fulfilling or that give us more energy or that make us feel better. I think we've been taught in our society that there are good foods and bad foods, and that creates a potentially-damaging binary when we're choosing what to eat. Anyway! Just some thoughts! Thanks for sharing!
